Hi my furry friends. I'm in troube again. Mom had to run a few errands and when she came home, the tray to my crate was half pushed out and I knew I was in trouble. Don't I look sorry? I tried my best sorry look.
See what I did it? I ate a hole in it. I tried telling her it was not so bad, but she was not happy, especially since this is the second tray. The first tray, I actually ripped and broke it in half, right down the middle and it could not be fixed, so Mom had to call the company that makes them and get this second one. Well, I have to go bother Missy now, she's sleeping under the table and looks way to peacful.
She's kinda concerned about our vacation in October if I want to travel with them. I told her I don't want to stay at the vet's, I want to be with them. Mom asks if any of you have any suggestions on "good crate behavior" to ler her know. She can't give me "busy items" like other dogs. I can't have nylabones or those hard plastic bones, I eat them. And those healthy edibles, I break them and make sharp edges. I got my bottom jaw caught in my red kong and the rawhide chewy caught in my throat. Good thing I have a Mom that saves me from the assorted incidents I get myself into.
Have a Good Night. MayaMarie
From Mom: She is not bad, but this one, you have to keep an eye on. You can't leave her unattended with a toy or something that another dog can be trusted with. You can leave Missy in a room with food and glassware and come back and not a thing is out of place, but this one is so different. I really try to keep her so safe that I worry I'm not letting her be a dog, but she manages to do things that can really get her sick and then we have to rush to the vet. Her crate was her safe place and the new tray lasted about a month. She seemed fine without the tray, so we'll try that for a while. (MayaMarie's mom)

awwww...hang in there....you're a puppy and still learning. Be extra good so you can go on vacation!
Woo woo, Kelsey Ann
I really don't know what to say! I never destroy things. You sure are a mischevious girl!
I am sure your mom will find something right for your
Have a good night
Oh my, she's super-puppy with such strength! Juneau is my trail. Last Friday, he ate the scrunchee. Thankfully, that came up. I put his lupine collar on & it had tags. He ate half of his plastic tag with his chip number on it & VIP heavy cardboard tag. I don't know how he managed to get them in his mouth because his collar was on snug. But, Juneau managed! We have to watch him constantly, too. We had one dog who was a rock eater & I don't mean little rocks. That Husky had double cataract surgery when she was 1 year. And, then 2 different surgeries to remove rocks from her stomach & she was wearing a restraint on her face when we took her outside so she couldn't pick any up. Hang in there! Hopefully, when MayaMarie & Juneau grow out of their chewing puppy stage we won't have to watch them so closely. One can always hope.
Aww, MayaMarie, I know you want to go on vacation, so you better be good. We don't really have any advice for you because when it comes to chewing, we don't do much. We'd rather chew on each other than toys or stuff we're not supposed to chew.
Woo there, girl, slow down! You need to learn what you can destroy & what you can't. If it's big, don't do it. If it's really tiny, don't do it. If it looks expensive, it would be in your best interest not to destroy it. I stick to paper, kleenex, and squeakie babies. However, Sherman ate paper once that turned out to be a check to pay the petsitter, and some papers for the IRS, so sometimes chewing paper is not such a good idea either.
Hey, have you played that word game? we'd like to tag you - see it our blog!
Star & Jack-a-roo
Maybe your mom could try the airline crate kind. That's what my human used for Samuel and Abby.
We get pork skin twists cuz Samuel and Monty like to swallow the rawhides whole too. The pork skin twists are much thinner and chew easier. We buy the Hartz brand.
I have a cotton chew. But I don't use it much.
I'm not very interested in toys.
Breakfast is nice.
Wooo MayaMarie... You can come stay with me in October!!! We will have FUN! Oh, I am gonna have my mom email your mom about the Strawberry Hummingbird :)
Gee, we were going to say the kong or other durable toys but that doesn't seem to be a good fit either. Maybe it's just a phase and you'll come out of it soon. Just keep thinking VACATION!
Oh, poor MayaMarie! Hey, your recipe is in the cookbook and so is the recipe for the Indy's Beef Stew Biscuits! And of course, the picture of you and Missy is in the Contributor's section!
If your mom left a Kong Ball with treats in it in your crate with you, would that keep you from chewing the tray? Silly girl! Thanks for ordering the cookbooks!
Do you really need the tray in the crate? Could your mom just not put in a new one? Please be careful with your crate. My mom heard of an eskie who got their jaw caught in the crate's door and well, the worst thing happened. Please be careful MayaMarie. I hate to say this, but if you are going to be in the crate (since this is usually the safest place when a person can't watch you), will a sedative help? I have heard of Bach Essence (I forget the exact name) that will do wonders!!! If you want more info, let me know!
Ah, here it is. Rescue Remedy
One of the treats we get to chew on that last us a really long time and are fairly inexpensive is cow hooves, your mom might try those. (warn her not to step on 'em barefoot in the middle of the night though, our mom squeals like a puppy!) Pigs ears are pretty good too cause they're so big you have to really chew 'em and get 'em nice and soft before you can tear pieces off to swallow. Chili said Grandogs Star and Ice used to have a crate that had a molded steel tray that slid in and out, you probably wouldn't want to chew on that but since mom & dad got it for them sooooo loooong ago she's not sure if you can even get 'em like that anymore. Better be on your best chewing behaviour so you don't miss out on vacation!
Bama & the RHP
My name is Evander. I am a foster dachsie that lives with Mona, Jacks and Toby in Houston. I know exactly how you feel. I am always getting into trouble tearing up paper and anything else i can get my paws on...I'm still a puppy (kinda) you know...but I have learned something...nothing I do has stopped my foster Mommy from loving me and treating like I was one her own and I bet your Mommy won't give up on you either--BUT YOU GOTTA CHILL and try to be good. Come visit our blog sometime at: justustexasdachsies.blogspot.com
Ps...the cpw hooves work for us!!
golly, our crate came with a metal tray, so nothin happens there. We think the airline crate may be the answer for you. Shiloh actually escaped through the tray slot once, so no more wire crates for him, but he doesn't need to be crated anymore anyway during the day.
v alwiz love 2 misbehave 2 get more attention...
You'll grow out of that MM...I went through that stage too. Not quite as bad as you, but I was pretty naughty.
Has your Mom tried a black Extreme Kong for you...those have been pretty undestructable around here.
